Final Task Movie

Image
This was my third project in AICE Media Studies and I absolutely loved filming and producing this project. I know its a bit "cringe" but that's expected of a movie produced by amateur high-schooler's with no prior experience. For some amateurs, our acting was okay, and the story I think was decent. My editing was good, and a lot of my friends liked the production. I look forward to the end of the year, and seeing how this goes compared to my other friend.

Today is hopefully my last day of editing. When he arrived he downloaded his clips to the computer since it filmed on separate devices. The download did not take long at all, but to find the exact clips we wanted was a problem.  After Finding the right clips I deleted the other clips and opened the first part of the opening sequence. After opening the first part I inserted the remaining clips and put them in the correct order. After putting the clips in the right order me and Juan had to make sure that certain clips, had the vocals turned down, so we could fit in the music.  The reason for this was because me and my group filmed outside and the wind made it sound very bad. Juan decided that we should find a different soundtrack for our opening sequence since he did not like the one we previously had. Me and Juan decided that we should both look for song, but it had to be royalty free, as it was too late in the game to email a producer for access to their song, or beat. After searching

Get Together to Review!

Today is April 11th. We decided on Sunday that we should all meet up, but not to film. We decided the BEST thing we can do while I finish editing, is collaborate and talk about the movie. I was a bit confused on how exactly the final product would look, and so we decided to all come together and pitch in. We watched a couple of AS Media Studies film examples on YouTube. Watching these film examples gave me a great idea on how ours would end, and gave me some good ideas for edits I could incorporate. Since the order we would have to present the different titles were VERY specific it limited some cool ideas I had, but nevertheless I would have to make it work. Some of the videos we watched, had external inputs such as the Twentieth Century Fox intro but, I wasn't sure if we could use something of that sort, so we just didn't include it. One problem we all noticed, was the ability to fade the music in and out, this proved difficult as the voiceover sounded too low in some parts,

Filming Blog

Today is April 7th, 2022. Today we finished our filming, and all members showed up. We even had Juan's brother come over to film. Since today would be the last day of filming, as the director, I had to brainstorm how we would end the short-movie, without making it too cliche but also leave the viewers wondering what would happen next. I have to mention, while filming the police department were called on us, which was very surprising. The police was called, because one of our scenes which was filmed by the street, on the grass, included one of our cast members Alejandro, pretending to beat up the zombie, Juan. Alejandro was also dressed up in all black, so I can understand why the cops were brought on board. The cops asked us what we were doing, and why we were fighting, but we explained we were just filming a project for our school. Upon hearing this, the cops apologized for wasting our time, and just notified us they just had to respond as the call came in. Anyways, the cops left

Today is April 4th, 2022. Today is the second part of editing the clips we filmed so far. Being the director and the editor is turning out to be really helpful. The insight that goes on in my head, and the vision I have before every scene, makes editing very easy. Basically, while editing I can make the project look exactly how I envisioned it in my head. Today, I had to keyframe the roof scene into the scene of me running away from Juan, the zombie. The scene of Juan getting hit had to be sped up, because while filming I didn't swing hard enough to actually hurt him, and so speeding up that scene makes it look like, Merlin (M.C) is actually hurting the zombie, Juan. One problem I had while editing was that I accidentally deleted the music portion, and I didn't have the music file saved. I had to go into my YouTube history and filter out the royalty free music that I used for the project. This was not that difficult, but mixing it in with the dialogue and voiceover, proved a n

Film Review

In AICE Media Studies, I showed one of my friends my video. He went over it a couple of times to give his feedback. He stated that what we have so far is satisfactory. What we were missing, however, was the film's soundtrack. He explained that when we introduce the music, it will add to the sense of realism and the thriller theme. He enjoys how the film is similar to other post-apocalyptic films and has a thriller feel to it. He claims that one scene, in which the main character is attacked by a zombie from around the corner, is a little messy.  He offered some suggestions for how we could improve this scene, such as having multiple camera angles of the attack and editing them together to capture the scene more smoothly. This could be a second camera on the opposite side of the action, allowing for multiple perspectives. Having multiple perspectives can make the viewer feel more in tune with the movie, as they are the one's getting attacked. The more in tune the movie felt, the
